About Course

A Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (CIDP) course is a preparatory course for pharmacists who want to take the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Specialty Certification Examination. The course covers the knowledge domains and clinical skills required for pharmacists who practice in infectious diseases settings, such as antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacotherapy, microbiology, and public health. The CIDP course is designed for pharmacists who have at least two years of experience in infectious diseases pharmacy or have completed a postgraduate year two (PGY2) residency in infectious diseases pharmacy. The course may also benefit pharmacists who want to enhance their professional development and competency in infectious diseases pharmacy.

Eligibilities

To become a CIDP, one must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Graduation from an accredited pharmacy program or a program that qualifies the individual to practice in their jurisdiction.

A current, active license to practice pharmacy in the U.S. or another jurisdiction.

At least four years of infectious diseases pharmacy practice experience within the past seven years, with at least 50% of time spent in the scope defined by the exam content outline; or Successful completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency within the past seven years, plus at least two years of infectious diseases pharmacy practice experience with at least 50% of time spent in the scope defined by the exam content outline; or

Successful completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency in infectious diseases within the past seven years.
